Apple Photokina 2006 Announcement

The Photokina will start at Tuesday 26 september 2006. A digital imaging show with the latest innovations, product announcements and expert’s view from top key players from the digital imaging industry. Insiders say Apple will probably announce Aperture 1.5 on Monday 25 september (Start Photokina a little early this year).

GamePod

iPod Games Mahjong and Cubis 2

I’ve bought two games at the iTunes (Music) Store: Cubis 2 and Mahjong. Both games I know from their Mac counterparts. But it’s amazing how they operate and feel (user interaction). When I travel I’ll have hours of fun.

Top-Gear

Volkswagen T2a 1969

I am not really a car man (as long as it drives I am okay with it). I am not the target audience for the BBC show called Top-Gear. Richard Hammond a co-host of this show was recently critically injured while attempting to break the UK land speed record. He was driving a dragster-type of car and believed to be going 300mph when the crash occurred. I am sorry to say that’s his own fault! Mess with extreme sports and more sooner then later you get hurt! People who practice extreme sports are often overwhelmed by the illusion of control, I dare to say: that’s the illusion!
I love some modern design cars though: New Beetle and Audi TT but far most I like classic cars like the Beetle and the VW Van T2a. Both are dreams which I will realize in the near future. The T2a Deluxe I love is from 1969, has a engine block of 1600cc and has lot’s of chrome goodies like a chrome VW logo and handles.

Regarding iTunes 7

iTunes 6 vs iTunes 7 Application Icon

iTunes 7 was released at 12 september 2006 for the public. This incarnation brought Coverflow as a view option, movies, games and a complete user interface overhaul. Although I like Coverflow view very much, it’s a real resource hog! Coverflow was originally created by Jonathan del Strother from Steel Skies. After installing I immediately noticed the blue icon (like iTunes 2). The CD icon has far more detail then the icon shows at large icon size (128×128). When you open up the 512×512 version you’ll see in the middle of the CD iTunes 7 120806 Apple 2006. Hey didn’t I say SEPTEMBER 12? Either the icon was finished at August 12 or the product was postponed a month? The music note has far less detail compared to iTunes (4-6). This has probably something to do with the new icon resources Apple’s gonna introduce with Leopard. Leopard will feature a resolution independent interface. One more minor detail the iTunes 7 image is 16-bit instead of the goo’ old 8-bit.

Go+Play=harman/kardon

harman/kardon Go + Play iPod Speaker System

I’ve written a couple of articles about harman/kardon products: my AVR home entertainment set-up, my JBL Creature II speaker system and The Bridge. At the IFA 2006 harman/kardon officially launched the Go + Play iPod Speaker System. It’s strange modern getto-blaster robotic like look makes it distinct from it’s competitors. The Go + Play has one other stand-out feature, it’s been designed for your iPod to lie flat on it’s back, as opposed to sticking out from the top (which is probably more secure and certainly gives more of a streamlined look). Of course only available in stylish harman/kardon metal and black. The sound is boosted by a combination of bi-amped digital amplification, DSP (digital sound processing) and Ridge and Atlas transducers, with volume and music selection controlled by remote, which operates up to 9 meters (30 Feet) away and through walls. It also connects via S-video to your TV if you want to watch your video clips on a bigger screen. The harman/kardon Go + Play should be in the shops in time for Christmas, priced around €349 (around $447).

It’s Showtime

Crikey, mate!

Steve Irwin

Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the “Crocodile Hunter“, was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition. He was 44.
Steve Irwin was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland state when he was stung, Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its Web site.
He collapsed at Batt Reef, near Low Isle and the resort town of Port Douglas, Queensland state police said in a statement. Port Douglas is about 1,260 miles north of Brisbane, the state capital.
A rescue helicopter rushed to the scene but Steve Irwin had died, the statement said. Queensland ambulance service spokesman Bob Hamil confirmed that a diver had been killed by a stingray off Lowe Isles Reef and said cause of death appeared to be a “stingray strike to the chest.”
Steve Irwin was famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchword “Crikey!” in his television program “Crocodile Hunter,” which was first broadcast in Australia in 1992 and has aired around the world on the Discovery channel.
I wish all the best for his wife Terri Irwin, daughter Bindi Sue Irwin and son Bob Irwin in these hard times to come.

…I put my life on the line to save animals…
