Where’s The Beef?

iPod Touch

I am the lucky owner of an iPod touch. I’ve bought the device for mobile entertainment (music & video). Apple delivers a very crappy user experience with their QuickTime Trailers site: I can’t play their default trailers, I am being forwarded to their ’special’ iPhone section, where I get the ultimate-postage-stamp-sized-crappy-compressed trailer there is available. Maybe it’s one-size-fits-all concept isn’t bad for the “iPod fatty” user, but the quality on my iPod is shameful! What happened to all those lovely pixels? Let me decide if I want to download the 640×336 version or the 320×172 version. I can do it on my desktop, so why not on my iPod? Okay, 320×172 is small, but that doesn’t mean that the quality has to be so crappy!
So think you can do better huh…! Well yeah! I haven’t got the RAW-DV footage but I’ve taken the 480p version to show my point. Even the recompressed material is better then theirs. Here’s are the two files for comparison: the original Cloverfield Trailer (320) versus the recompressed Cloverfield Trailer (640). Just put them on your iPod for comparisment. ;)

WALL•E

WALL•E

The year is 2700. WALL•E, a robot, spends every day doing what he was made for. But soon, he will discover what he was meant for.

WALL•E

It will be released in the summer of 2008 and to be even more precise 27 june, as you can see on the above poster. If you can’t wait until it’s release date here’s the Trailer.
On the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) I’ve discovered a very nice detail watch Luxo (the lamp) carefully. I think WALL•E is a must see!

Failure Is An Option

When a overconfident teen alien gets behind the controls of a spaceship, he must attempt to abduct a slumbering farmer under the watchful eye of a critical instructor.

But abducting humans requires precision and a gentle touch, and within a few missteps it’s painfully clear why humans don’t go missing every year. This is the latest short film from Pixar Animation Studios. You’ve to see this one it’s really great!

Akira (アキラ)

Bombardier EMBRIO/2025

The Bombardier EMBRIO Advanced Concept is the most radical design for a vehicle (unicycle) I have ever seen. It makes the Segway scooters look for girlies ;) The Bombardier EMBRIO/2025 is a recreational vehicle similar to a motorcycle but looks like a motorcycle straight out of one of my favorite epic movies called Akira. The movie Akira (1988) was based on the cyberpunk manga Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo.

Akira

The story takes place in the politically volatile city of Neo-Tokyo, built over Tokyo Bay after an unexplained explosion inciting World War III destroyed the original city in 1988. The cataclysm is revealed to have been caused by the frightening psionic powers of a child, Akira, who had earlier been the subject of a secret government research project for the development of psychokinetic abilities. The Bombardier requires no special training for the user. Future technology will have a large control over the laws of physics (i.e. the use of gyroscopes, sensors, high-performance braking system, active suspension, night vision, etc.). After starting and moving forward, the front wheels retract at 32 km/u (20 mph). Vehicle stands on one wheel (gyroscope) with two front wheels off the ground, but protracts when needed in case of gyro failure. Energy will be generated by fuel-cell technology.

The iPod Family

Our iPod family

I have added an 5G iPod (Video), to our iPod line-up. I was a little skeptical at first, but after having played with it at an Apple Centre I was convinced. The video/audio quality of this device is really amazing!

Pump Up The Volume

JBL Creature II

Today I bought the JBL Creature II audio speaker system, my Apple Pro speakers (also harman/kardon) got a little bit out dated. JBL’s Creature II three piece speaker system produces high-quality stereo sound for movies, MP3’s, movies and gaming experiences. Featuring cutting-edge sci-fi design and superior sound performance, JBL Creature II is a unique “plug and play” solution, compatible with all Macs and PCs - both desktops and portables - as well as MP3 players and Walkmans. JBL Creature II offers consumers cool design and exceptional sound, proving that excellence does not have to come in an expensive package.
