WordPress 2.7 “Coltrane”

WordPress 2.7 Coltrane

You probably noticed the lack of posts here at digitalrendezvous!? This was because we were thoroughly testing the digitalrendezvous WordPress theme with WordPress 2.7 a.k.a “Coltrane”. So as of today we made the jump.
We were running “Coltrane” simultaneously with the previous version of WordPress and didn’t discover any strange behavior (yet). We are currently investigating extensions to digitalrendezvous so that it will become a true social network platform for digital lifestyle news and information.

Crazy Horse

WordPress 2.7 Crazy Horse

We are waiting for the upcoming update of blogging software, code name Crazy Horse. The Blog Rockstars of the Web know what I am talking about. The next release of WordPress version 2.7 is going to have an interface overhaul. The top menu is gone, instead all menu actions will occur from the new sidebar, which is far better structured then the current available version. Needless to say I am really looking forward to this release! But I am very curious if most of the themes and plugins will work? I will not immediately install it, I have to verify if all my plugins and my theme will work.25-10-2008: Some really nice information for themecreators or people who made their own theme can be found here at justintadlock.com and here at ottodestruct.com

Behind the scenes

Behind The Scenes

I am very hard at work porting my old blog to WordPress. I have to port my theme over, I have a mobile version, from which I can post from my mobile phone on location. There’s a lot to be done and to little time to do it. But from a technical point of view it will be a whole lot simpler because I don’t have to maintain my own codebase anymore. But that’s also the catch, I was not very familiar with the WordPress API’s so I had to do to many things at the same time. So I decided to do the back-end first, then the features and after that the front-end. So there you have the reason why I’m late with my posts. I will do my posts from now on “dual-mode” (old way and WordPress style).

Hello Again!

Hello Again!

We’re back! Back as in permanent! So what happened? I got a warning from Apple’s .Mac team, my data transfer quota for this period was almost exceeded! What the ….? My whole blog is a mere 75MB. With Google analytics I noticed high traffic to two of my articles Spider-Man and Baby Seals. Either someone was hot-linking to my articles/images (bandwidth theft) or something else was going on. I noticed that my data transfer duplicated every month. But 5,38 Gb in 16 days? That’s to much (or is it)?I planned to move my weblog to digitalrendezvous.net this year and migrate to WordPress while at it. Last week a hosting party, which I have my eyes on a few months came with an offer I couldn’t refuse 110GB disk space, 5TB bandwidth and 110 Domain Pointers. Did you hear me 5TB of bandwidth!? At .Mac I have 10GB!!! Site 5 is awesome hosting party with the latest technology languages at your feet. This will offer me more flexibility then .Mac can ever offer me. Okay, here come the fun part… the price! I could buy 19 .Mac accounts for this value. May be if .Mac doesn’t evolve more gradually I’ll dump the whole package.I would like to thank you for your patience and hope to see you again soon? There we be coming a lot of improvements now that we have the ability to go beyond .Mac. For the latest news you can download the latest beta of our Dashboard Widget.
